For centuries, Acorns have been an important staple of nourishment for the Maidu People. The gathering, processing, cooking, storing, and eating of acorns was an important and time-consuming activity. These nutrition-packed gifts from the region’s Oak trees fostered strength, community and comfort to generations of Maidu, whose lives revolved around them.
